Tomato Sauce perfect for freezing or canning

ree

I was hesisitant to try and make my own tomato sauce, it seems too easy to be true! But it is now tried and tested.

The best part of this recipe is that you can make it to your own tastes! I have made this using onion and garlic seaons as well as with quartered onions and gralic cloves and it comes out delicious everytime!

Easy 4-Ingredient Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes (I used 2 big packages of heriloom tomatoes from Sam's Club but you can use how ever many you have)

  • Garlic cloves (or 1/4 tsp garlic powder)

  • Quartered Onions (or 1/4 tsp onion powder)

  • Avocado or olive oil

  • (Optional Basil or Italian Seasoning)

Directions

This is going to be one of the simplest things that you ever make!

  1. Preheat to 375°F and grab your baking sheets

  2. Wash and quarter your tomatoes and put them on your baking sheet

  3. Generously coat your tomatoes with your oil.

  4. If you are using seasonings sprinkle them over your tomatoes and stir! If you are using whole onions and garlic, quarter the onions and peel your onions and add them to your tomatoes and oil and stir.

  5. But them in the oven and cook for 45 minutes or until your tomatoes are looking roasted and soft.

  6. You can either use an imersion blender to blend up your sauce, or you can toss them in a blender and blend them right up! (I usually use the blender)

I have never canned this recipe but I know you would need to raise the acidity levels. This recipe freezed perfectly in mason jars!
